The Kern–UCLA Future Educators Pathway Program STEAM Summer Externship offers high school juniors and seniors a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience in STEAM education. Participants shadow educators, assist with classroom activities, and help maintain learning spaces at various STEAM education sites, including the KCSOS STEAM Yard, CALM (California Living Museum), and the Kern County Museum. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, allowing students to engage with STEAM concepts through activities like working with LEGO walls, 3D printers, anatomy models, building blocks, and coding tools. Externs also enroll in a free UCLA School of Education course (Education 10), earning college credit while learning about educational issues and scholarship.
